CLeaR Fellows 2019 – Dr Agnieszka Zabicka

Enhancing the use of blended learning practices of the Tertiary Foundation Certificate programme

Dr Agnieszka ZabickaAgnieszka moved to New Zealand in 1999, having graduated from the MA programme in English Philology at the Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland. She has been studying and teaching at the University of Auckland since 2001; she received her PhD in English in 2010. Since 2014, Agnieszka has been teaching full time as part of the English team at the Tertiary Foundation Certificate (TFC), the largest one-year pre-degree programme at The University of Auckland.

With its diverse cohort of 220 students per year, mostly from equity and priority groups, TFC is an ideal testing ground for the potentially transformative capacity of Canvas-based e-learning. As Professional Teaching Fellow in English at the TFC, Agnieszka has been at the forefront of the adaptation of Canvas teaching and learning strategies to the specific needs of the TFC programme.

In her fellowship year, Agnieszka is developing a range of Canvas assignments, modules and quizzes to enhance the use of blended learning practices at the TFC.

Currently teaching: ENGLISH 91F (Foundation English 1), ENGLISH 92F (Foundation English 2).
